If soybean amendments are repealed, soybean crops should be expected to grow by at least 20%. This opinion was expressed by Maria Kolesnyk, Deputy Director of ProAgro Group.
Maria Kolesnik noted that it is necessary to look in what condition will winter after wintering. The dry autumn was not very favorable, and warm winters can also lead to disease.
“If the losses after winter exceed 3-5%, then it will all be sown spring barley in the case of early winter or corn and soy in the case of late”, – commented Maria Kolesnik.
According to scientists of the Institute of Agrarian Economics, 1.5 million hectares of spring barley, 0.25 million hectares of peas, 0.2 million hectares of oats will be sown in the spring. The dry spring can slightly change the structure of early grain crops towards reducing these crops and increasing corn crops – from 5.0 million hectares to 5.2-5.4 million hectares.
The Institute’s experts also estimate that about 6 million hectares will be allocated for sunflower and 1.5 million hectares for soybean. The Institute believes that if the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine abolishes “soybean edits”, then the area of crops under soybeans can grow to 1.6-1.7 million hectares.
